RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced its weekly award winners for Men's and Women's Tennis on Wednesday afternoon and garnering her first career honor is Southern Arkansas Women's Tennis player Angela Vargas.

A native of Del Rio, Texas, Vargas posted a 3-1 record for the Lady Muleriders on the back half of the team's four-match week in Alabama over spring break. The freshman defeated Montevallo's Anne-Christine Leu 6-0, 6-2 last Wednesday and claimed her second win with a 6-2, 6-1 decision over Alabama-Huntsville's Rinata Bauzhanova on Thursday.

In doubles competition, Vargas paired with Polish teammate Joanna Nowakowska and topped UAH's Stefanie Mehlich/Karolin Kirchtag 6-0.

The SAU Women are currently ranked No. 26 nationally in the Oracle/ITA Division II Team Rankings and are preparing to jump back into Great American Conference play with a league tilt against Oklahoma Baptist at 11 a.m. in Magnolia.
