Tulsa Public Schools noncompliant with special education


TULSA, Okla. (AP) — The Oklahoma State Department of Education has found Tulsa Public Schools failed to meet federal requirements for students with disabilities.

The Tulsa World reports the department investigated a complaint by parent Carmon Pool Drummond and found the district failed to develop a written plan for each of its more than 7,000 students eligible for special education.

The federal Individualized Education Program requires annual goals, including academic and functional goals, for each student.

Investigators instead found generic goals for the majority of the students.
