April 14, 2019

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Rogers State Softball team dropped its series finale at Lubbock Christian on Friday, falling in the rubber match of the series 5-2.

The Hillcats took the lead in the top of the first as Danelle Day hit a single to left field, bringing around Tailee Reding.

However, the Lady Chaps would hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the first to take the lead and added another home run, along with a two-run double in the second to go up 5-1.

Day would hit a sacrifice fly in the third, scoring Katelyn Gamble, but that would be the final run to cross the plate for either team.

The Hillcats were held to just three hits and three walks in the game.

Andrea Morales tossed all six innings in the loss, allowing five runs on 12 hits with four strikeouts.

Rogers State will return to action on Tuesday, with a trip to Wichita, Kansas to face Newman in a Heartland Conference doubleheader. First pitch is set for 5 p.m.
