Longtime Arkansas teacher awarded computer science honor

 


LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — A longtime math teacher who switched to computer science three years ago recently won Arkansas' inaugural Computer Science Educator of the Year Award.

Gov. Asa Hutchinson gave the recognition to Lake Hamilton High School teacher Karma Turner at a ceremony in the governor's conference room.

Turner was chosen from a pool of 30 candidates that a team of education and computer science experts narrowed by considering each candidate's understanding of the value of computer science education, instruction quality and impact on computer science education locally, statewide...
