Authorities: Man held woman at knifepoint, killed by police

 


POTEAU, Okla. (AP) — The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation says a man holding a woman at knifepoint was fatally shot by law enforcement officers in southeastern Oklahoma.

The OSBI says in a news release that the man was dead at the scene of the shooting early Tuesday at a convenience store in Poteau, about 165 miles (266 kilometers) southeast of Oklahoma City.

No names have been released.

The OSBI says a Poteau police officer and a Le Flore County sheriff's deputy responding to a 911 call about 4:45 a.m. Tuesday found the man holding the woman, a store clerk, at knifepoint inside the stor...
