Report: West, Central Africa violence closes 9,000 schools

DAKAR, Senegal (AP) — Fourteen-year-old Hussaini said he first heard screaming. Then people fired guns, shooting at and killing at least one of his teachers in his northern Burkina Faso village.
It's been more than a year since Hussaini has been to school.
"I used to love school, to read, to count and to play during recess," the boy, identified only by his first name, told the United Nations Children's Agency.
