Men's Soccer: Storm Fall 1-0 in Conference Opener

September 20, 2019

BETHANY, Okla. - The Southern Nazarene University Men's Soccer team couldn't quite put the pieces together to overcome Ouachita Baptist Universityon Thursday night. The Tigers (1-3-1, 1-0) defeated the Crimson Storm (1-4, 0-1) 1-0 on this night of Great American Conference soccer - the conference opener for both teams.

What started out as an intense defensive battle, ended in much the same way. SNU and OBU fought hard against one another through the first half which left a zero in both of their scoring columns. OBU broke the seal with a Nery Flores goal in the 56th minute of the matchup. The tug of war would continue until the final buzzer sounded, and OBU emerged victorious.

The Crimson Storm were solid defensively in their approach. SNU's Bence Mocsari was able to save two of three attempts on the night, and SNU also had a team save, while the Crimson Storm took six shots, three of those being on target. SNU continued their trend of playing tight matches, as each of their five games so far has been decided by a single goal.

The SNU Men's Soccer team will be back home on Saturday, at 11:00 a.m., to take on Northeastern State University (2-3).
