UAM Volleyball earns first GAC win at SAU

MAGNOLIA, Ark. - The University of Arkansas of Monticello volleyball team earned its first Great American Conference win this season with a 3-1 victory over Southern Arkansas University. After taking the first two sets, the Blossoms fell in set three, but bounced back with a dominating fourth set, winning 25-10.

UAM took the first two sets, 25-15, and 25-19, but lost the third set. The Blossoms returned in style getting off to a hot start in the fourth set, never looking back.

At one point in set four, the Blossoms took a 21-4 lead. UAM scored 12 straight points early in the set to take control.

Leslie Polanco led all attackers with 16 kills, while Zealia Kleitz and MarKayla Dickie added 11 kills apiece.

Katie Pearson, in her first game back from injury, was outstanding dishing out 42 assists.

Defensively, Pearson totaled 14 digs, while Polanco had 12 and Jessica Mahan added 10. Dickie also registered one block on the defensive side.

UP NEXT

UAM will host Harding University for its second home game of the year at Steelman Fieldhouse on Tuesday. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
