SAU Volleyball drop home opener versus Cotton Blossoms

Magnolia, Ark. – The SAU Volleyball team finally opened the doors to the W. T. Watson Center tonight, hosting Arkansas-Monticello in a Battle of the Timberlands, with both teams entering the contest 0-2 in GAC play.

The Cotton Blossoms took the first two sets 25-19, and the Muleriders were behind the visitors 7-6 in set three before ripping off a 9-0 scoring run to go 15-7 in the set. The Muleriders won set three 25-15 before a 12-0 scoring run by the Blossoms saw the guests go up 17-3 in set four, ultimately taking the match 25-10.

Libero Alana Perez recorded a game-high 15 digs on the night, and attackers Seven Powers and Morgan Gross recorded 15 and 12 kills, respectively. Powers and Gross' attack percentages sat at .313 and .355 on the evening.

Freshman Morgan Schuster recorded another double-double with 37 kills and 11 digs. The setter also blocked three attacks and put down three kills in four attempts.

The Muleriders are back in action inside the W. T. Watson Center next Tuesday as they host Henderson State.
