Volleyball: Golden Suns take down Crimson Storm in four

BETHANY, Okla. – Rilie Vote put down 17 kills, hitting .571, as the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns defeated the Southern Nazarene Crimson Storm in four sets. Allie Anderson put down 16 kills in the win. Arkansas Tech's defense held Southern Nazarene to hit .070 in four sets, the lowest of any opponent this season. The defense out blocked the Crimson Storm 10-3.

""Good rebound tonight after not showing up ready to go for the first set," said head coach Kera Dukic. "I thought our team did a great job refocusing and getting back to our game plan. Time to rest up as much as possibly before tomorrow!"


The Golden Suns travel to Shawnee, Okla. to face Oklahoma Baptist Saturday, Oct. 26 at noon.


SNU jumped out to an early 5-1 to start the match and went up by 10, 18-8.

Tech clawed back within two, 20-18.

The Crimson Storm took the first set 25-23.

The Golden Suns opened the second set with a 12-5 lead.

Tech pushed maintained and extended the lead and took the second set 25-16.

The teams traded points early in the third set.

The Golden Suns took a three-point lead at 9-6 and extended the lead to as many as 10, 23-12.

Tech won the final two points of the third set and took the set 25-17.

The Golden Suns jumped out to a 6-2 lead to start the fourth set.

SNU clawed back and tied things 15-15.

Tech used a 5-0 run to take a 21-16 lead.

A 4-1 run propelled the Golden Suns to take the fourth set 25-18 and the match.


Emily Ragsdale and Anderson led the match for four total blocks each.

Brianna Merkel had team-high 28 assists and Emily Acker added 16.

Madison Grantham led the team with 14 digs.
