Man pleads guilty in connection with CSU student's death

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) — A man charged in connection with his roommate's shooting death near Colorado State University has pleaded guilty to evidence tampering.

The Coloradoan reports that 22-year-old Colemann Carver entered his plea Thursday and is expected to receive a deferred term when he's sentenced Dec. 4.

Police say Finnegan Daly, a 21-year-old CSU student just shy of graduation, died of an accidental, self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head Jan. 14, 2018. Carver was accused of removing ammunition and throwing away beer cans before calling 911.

The case was reopened after Daly's family confronted investigators with an image that Daly posted to social media showing Carver holding the gun about 15 minutes before the 911 call.

The image contradicts Carver's account of what happened but wasn't mentioned in the initial investigative report.
