Basketball: School Records, Career Highs Highlight 107-41 Win for Hillcats Over Randall

CLAREMORE, Okla. – The Rogers State Women's Basketball team set a pair of school records on Thursday in a 107-41 victory over Randall University at the Claremore Expo Center.

The Hillcats matched a school record with 44 field goals made in the game and set a school record with 27 assists, breaking the previous mark of 26.

Rogers State's 107 points is tied for the third most in school history.

The Hillcats also had five players finish in double figures, led by junior guard Lilly Garner, who came off the bench to score 18 points, matching a career high on 7-of-14 shooting including a three pointer. Garner was also 3-for-3 from the free-throw line in her season debut. Garner finished with two rebounds and had five steals, which set a new career high.

Alicia Brown also came off the bench in the game to score double figures, finishing with 16. Brown was 6-for-10 from the field and had four free throws. The senior guard finished with six rebounds and had three assists.

Julie Luna and Bailey Kliewer both set career highs in the game, finishing with 14 points each. Luna was 7-for-10 from the field, all from inside the arc. Luna matched Garner with a team and career high five steals. She also had career highs in rebounds and assists, finishing with four each.

Kliewer had six rebounds in the game. The freshman also had a career high three blocks and matched a career high with three steals.

Katrina Christian wrapped up the Hillcats who finished in double figures, scoring a career high 11 points in the game. Christian was 4-of-7 shooting and was 2-for-2 from the free-throw line. Christian set a career high with three assists in the game.

The Hillcats were 44-for-84 in the game from the floor, shooting a season high 52.4 percent in the game. Rogers State also held Randall to 31.5 percent from the field a season best for the Hillcat defense. Rogers State did not allow a three pointer from Randall despite nine attempts from the Lady Saints.

Rogers State also outrebounded the Lady Saints 51-31 in the game and forced 34 turnovers, including 24 steals, which is tied for the second most in school history behind 28 at Dallas Christian in November of 2009.

The Hillcats also set a season high with six blocks in the game.

Vanessa Gajdosova had nine points in the game on 4-of-5 shooting, finishing at 80 percent from the field. Gajdosova added four assists and set a career high with three steals in the game.

Senior Darian Jackson set a career high with four steals in the game, while Samariah Thompson added a career high six assists in the game. Jackson had seven points in the game, with Thompson adding six points.

Alyche Brown and Rylie Elkin had career nights on the glass, Brown finished with five boards and also had a pair of blocks, steals and assists, all of which matched or set new career bests.

Elkin scored her first points of her collegiate career, finishing with five in the game. She also set a career high with seven rebounds.

Azaria Floyd wrapped up the scoring, adding one point from the line. She also had five rebounds and a pair of assists.

The Hillcats will return to action on Saturday, welcoming in former Sooner Athletic Conference foe Oklahoma Baptist. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. at the Claremore Expo Center.
