NORMAN, Okla. – The Northwestern Oklahoma State track and field team completed Day One of the Great American Conference Championships competing in three events inside of the Mosier Indoor Facility.

"What a great way to start the first day of the GAC Championships," said head coach Jill Lancaster. "We had a great showing from our distance medley relay and in our multi-events. The individuals in the multi had multiple personal best in so many of the events and Gina Wilson ended up with a great personal best effort that vaulted her into third place in the pentathlon."

Gina Wilson used some personal best to lead the Lady Rangers in the pentathlon competition with 2,772 points to finish in third place. Wilson set three school records during the pentathlon; she improved her school record score in the event. She also broke the Rangers' record in the 60-meters hurdles, with the schools first sub-10 second time of 9.70 seconds to place sixth in the event and in the long jump, she was the only GAC athlete to reach over five meters, finishing with 5.01m, to win the round. In the 800 meters, which she finished with a time of two minutes and 41.24 seconds to improve her spot in the record books to sixth. Wilson improved her personal best in the shot put with a total distance of 7.87m and in her final event she turned in a 1.38m leap in the high jump placing sixth overall in the event.

Zarin Goodrich improved in the overall scoring of the event scoring 2,198 to turn in the school's second-best point total. She threw the shot put 8.42m, turning in the sixth furthest distance in the event. Goodrich jumped 4.45m in the long jump to move inside the Rangers top-five in the record book. In the high jump, Goodrich jumped 1.35m to place eighth in the event, during the 800-meter race she finished at the 2:59.83 mark and in the 60-meter hurdles she turned in a time of 11.05 seconds.

Jessalyn Rivet-Tissot finished the competition with 2131 points. Rivet-Tissot placed sixth in the 800 meters run with a time of 2:39.67. In the 60 meter hurdles, she had a time of 11.36 seconds. In the high jump Rivet-Tissot leaped 1.26m, she threw 6.79m in the shot put and in the long jump she reached 4.32m, improving on her personal best by 0.07m.

Northwestern's distance medley team of Mariah Malloy, Ladasheray Bell, Briley Yunker and Jasmin Garcia, turned in a fifth-place finish with a time of 13:47.65, finishing 1:39.79 behind the winner of the event, Oklahoma Baptist. The team turns in the second-best finish in Northwestern's history, just missing the record by 3.56 seconds.

Kayla Gourley placed 11th in the 5000-meter race by crossing the finish line at the 20:11.08 mark. In the event, Oklahoma Baptist placed in each of the top five spots, with Sydney Lawrence taking the top spot.
