Neal Williams

Neal Williams of Alva has been named as the new executive director of the Woods County Economic Development Committee (WCEDC). He succeeds his wife, Sonja Williams, who had about 20 years of experience with the WCEDC. She resigned to take a position with Northwest Technology.

Members of the WCEDC held several meetings that included executive sessions to go over applications and to interview candidates.

At Wednesday's special meeting, May 13, committee members also met in executive session. Following a return to the open meeting, Jeremey Eaton made the motion to employ Williams as the executive director to begin Monday, May 18. It was seconded by Matt Tucker and approved unanimously.

In addition to Eaton and Tucker, other members of the committee in attendance were Susan Bradford, Randy McMurphy, Dr. Kay Decker and Allan Poe. Bo Hannaford was absent.

In other action, the committee members voted to amend the memorandum of understanding with Northwest Technology to represent the director's salary. Northwest Tech handles the payroll for WCEDC.
