Oklahoma reports 1,017 new coronavirus cases, 11 deaths

September 13, 2020

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma health officials on Saturday reported 1,017 new confirmed coronavirus cases and 11 additional deaths.

The latest figures from the Oklahoma State Department of Health bring the total number of confirmed cases to 68,659. The state's death toll now stands at 899.

The actual number of cases is likely higher because many people haven't been tested, and studies suggest people can be infected and not feel sick.

For most people, the new coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and a cough that clear up in two to three weeks. For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia and death.
