Freedom school board: Veterans Day program Wednesday, basketball schedule changes

November 11, 2020

The Veteran’s Day meal and program will be this Wednesday, Superintendent Bryant Weber told the Freedom Public Schools Board of Education Monday evening.

The meal – chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes and green beans – will be from 11 a.m. until noon. The program will begin at 12:15 p.m.

The basketball schedule has been changed, Weber said. The high school starts their season next Monday, which is when the junior high will have its second game. The Northwestern Tournament has been canceled due to COVID-19, leading to some changes to the schedule, Weber said. The school has picked up a game for the junior high and high school teams with South Barber on that Friday, starting at 4 p.m. Also, the Forgan game has been moved to Dec. 7.

Other Board Business

In other business, after returning from executive session to discuss Superintendent Weber's evaluation, the board approved that evaluation. They also approved amending the 2020-2021 school calendar due to snow days.

The board also approved the consent agenda, consisting of minutes of previous meetings; the treasurer's report; encumbrances and warrants for the general, building and child nutrition funds; and activity fund reports.

Members present were Shan Wilson, Phillip Kirkpatrick, Robert Babcock, Russell Reed, and Shane Morris. Others present were Interim Superintendent Bryant Weber, Principal Michelle Shelite, and Minutes Clerk Patricia Dauphin.
