Hewitt receives GAC Honorable Mention

ALVA, Okla. – The Great American Conference announced their annual Conference awards early March 2. Parrish Hewitt was rewarded with making the Honorable Mention All-GAC team following the 2021 season. The Great American Conference's coaches vote on the annual end of the year awards and are not allowed to vote for their own player. The conference announced All-GAC First Team, All-GAC Second Team, Honorable Mention Team, along with individual awards including Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Newcomer of the Year, Freshman of the Year, and Coach of the Year.

"Parrish had another great year for us,” said head coach Vinay Patel. “Our season didn't go the way we wanted, but Parrish was a guy we could always count on competing at the highest level. His teammates did a tremendous job of putting him in a position to be successful, and he would be the first to say his success is because of them. I'm grateful to have him in our program and am excited to get to coach him another year."

The Memphis native finished the regular season with 15.3 points per game for seventh in the conference in scoring, third in the Western Division. The 15.3 points were slightly increased from just a year ago when he finished the year with 14.8 points. Hewitt also finished in 13th in the Great American Conference in rebounding with 5.8 rebounds per game. The Rangers guard finished the year shooting 42.4% from the field with a 40% three-point percentage for 13th in the GAC. Hewitt closed the season scoring double figures in 10 of the final 11 regular-season games for the Rangers.
