Kansas man sentenced for attacking federal undercover agent

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) — A Kansas City, Kansas, man has been sentenced 15 years in prison for attacking an undercover federal agent during a transaction involving a firearm, the U.S. Attorney's Office in Kansas announced Wednesday.

Nicholas Newman, 20, was sentenced this month after pleading guilty in May to forcible assault on a federal officer using a dangerous weapon and one count of using a firearm in furtherance of a violent crime.

According to court documents, Newman met two undercover agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives in February 2020 to sell a firearm....
