Alva Ladybugs defeat Newkirk 46-31

Ladybug Carly Argo (12), blocked on her way to the goal at Newkirk, looks around for help.

Tuesday night the Alva Ladybugs hosted the Lady Tigers from Newkirk and posted a 46-31 win. Morgan Heath and Hallie Hamilton took the night off for medical reasons. Other than a couple of tie scores in the first quarter, the Ladybugs kept the lead throughout the game.

Alva led 13-9 at the end of the first quarter. The Ladybugs scored seven points to six for Newkirk in the second for a 20-15 Alva lead at halftime. In the third quarter, the Ladybugs added 12 points while holding Newkirk to nine. The Alva girls doubled the Lady Tiger points, 14-7, in the final period to win 46-31.
