The Alfalfa County commissioners met Tuesday this week due to the July 4 holiday. Because it's a new month, monthly reports, appropriations and alcohol beverage tax allocation paperwork were ready to be signed. Also signed were the last meeting's minutes, M&O payment warrants, and blanket purchase orders.

Lapsed appropriations from fiscal years 20-21 to 22-23 and fiscal years 21-22 to 22-23 received signatures, and also a request for temporary appropriations for new account numbers for Chart of Account benefits, effective July 1 of this year. There was a change in department number on the Chart of Accounts for County General, and the highway account amounts will be transferred this month and added to the appropriation list in August. Commissioners then signed the renewal letter for the lease agreements held with Security National Bank.

Next, District 2 was granted a couple of private property access easements: One for the NW¼ of 30-25-11 to remove trees in the county ditch and stack them on the landowner's land. The other was for the SW¼ of 29-27-12 to haul rip rap to the channel for proper drainage.

The three men moved on to sign a contract between Eastern Oklahoma Youth Services and Alfalfa County for juvenile detention services. Those services are provided at the Pittsburg County Regional Juvenile Detention Center. Lastly, the three men signed off on the professional legal services contract with Tisdale and O'Hara, the law firm used by the assessor's office. Jennifer Roach (the assessor) told commissioners that Tisdale and O'Hara's rates increased by $25 per hour. No surprise was evoked as costs of products and services soar. Roach said this was the first time since her tenure that there has been a rate increase.
