The Alva Goldbugs took on the Frontier Mustangs in a road game at Red Rock Friday night. Although the Mustangs are from a smaller school district, they have an intimidating number of state playoffs wins displayed in their gym.
The Goldbugs got off to a good start behind the scoring of Kyler Penco and Drake Wharton. The two accounted for all of Alva's 13 points in the first quarter while the Mustangs were held to eight. The Frontier team upped their game to score 12 points in the second period, but four Goldbugs put in 17 points and Alva led 30-20 at halftime.
