Alva High track brings home state medals

 

The Alva girls' track team was the 3A Academic State Champions with a 4.0 GPA.

Qualifying members of the Alva High School track teams traveled to Ardmore May 5-6 to compete in the state meet. The Alva girls were named Class 3A State Academic Champions.

Sophomore Lakin Gaddy took first place in the girls 400 meter with a time of 58.94. Gaddy placed sixth in the girls 200 meter with a 26.18 time.

Sophomore Kelan Penco finished second in the boys high jump with 6 feet 4 inches.

Senior Weston Tucker took second in the boys 200 meter with a time of 21.93. He was sixth in the boys 100 meter with a time of 10.91.

Junior Triniti Miller took third in the girls high jump at five feet, two inches. Freshman Myah Graves was tenth in the high jump with four feet, ten inches.

Alva Goldbug senior Weston Tucker earned second place (state runner-up) in the 200 meter dash and sixth place in the 100 meter dash at state track and broke the Alva High School record in both.

Jenna Allen, a junior, placed third in the girls pole vault, clearing nine feet. Freshman Kambri Rhodes placed eighth in the same event, clearing seven feet, six inches.

In other individual events, freshman Channing Ferguson was ninth in the girls 800 meters with 2:34.07; freshman Josie Webster was 13th in the girls 300meter hurdles with 52.57; and freshman Katelee Martin came in 14th in the girls 3200 meters with a time of 14:38.49.

Three girls relay teams reached the finals with the girls 4x400 meter relay taking fifth place with a time of 4:12.79. On that team are Josie Webster, Channing Ferguson, Kylie Adair and Lakin Gaddy

The girls 4x800 meter relay team finished eighth with a time of 10:50.38. Team members are Mya Williams, Josie Webster, Kylie Adair and Channing Ferguson.

The girls 4x100 meter relay team came in 11th with a time of 1:50.79. Team members are Lyndee Fraire, Cynthia Samaniego, Kylie Adair and Myah Graves.
