BEULAH FRANCES MATHES

 

Funeral services for Beulah Frances Mathes will be held Monday, May 15, 2023, at 2 p.m. at the Alva Church of God, with burial following at Galena Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.

Beulah Frances (Rhodes) Mathes was born April 12, 1926 to D.E. and Cordelia (Sayres) Rhodes and went on to her heavenly home May 8, 2023, at the age of 97years and 25 days.

Beulah was the 10th of 11 children, and attended a country school in the Greensburg area until eighth grade, and then graduated high school from Waynoka, Oklahoma, with the class of 1945. Four days later she was united in marriage to Charles William Mathes on May 20, 1945, at Charles' parents home. They farmed in the Galena area until 1953 when they moved to Alva, Oklahoma. They moved to their present home September of 1960 where they raised chickens and bees and always had a large garden, selling produce, eggs, and honey at the local farmers market. Beulah was a long time member of the Assembly of God Church in Alva. She also began attending the senior citizen center in 1986 serving as a member of the board for several years. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandma, great grandma, and friend.

Beulah was preceded in death by her husband Charles of 53 years; parents D.E. and Cordelia; one son, Marion David Mathes; two daughters, Louise Ann and Judy Marie; one daughter-in-law, Grace Mathes, and all 10 of her siblings.

She is survived by her son John William Mathes of Carmen, grandson Thomas Frank Mathes of Carmen, grandson Michael Dwayne Mathes and wife Amy of Mustang, grandson Daniel Eugene Mathes and wife Amy of Mustang, six great-grandchildren, Abbigail Clayton of Waynoka; Cheyenne, Dakota, Kiowa, Austin, Alicia all of Mustang.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Senior Citizen's Center or the Alva Church of God.
