Grow and Share OHCE regular monthly meeting

Grow and Share OHCE met for its regular monthly meeting at 6 p.m. on May 9, 2023, at Chubby Dave's. Jean Moore served as hostess and the group enjoyed a Dutch treat dinner in honor of OHCE Week. Janet Cunningham gave each member a car coaster with the OHCE logo. Amanda Jones, who just graduated with a bachelor's degree, was surprised with a gift from the group. President Janet Cunningham called the meeting to order with members joining in the flag salute. Moore gave a devotion focused on “Trust in the Lord” with a Bible reference of Jeremiah 17:8. Eleven members answered roll call to, “Have you ever taken a personality test?” Three guests were in attendance. Minutes for the April meeting were read and approved and the treasurer's report was given.

Communications received during the month included the Woods County OHCE Newsletter and the State OHCE Newsletter.

Under committee reports, Cunningham reported that the LDCE grant reimbursement had been received.

Unfinished business included discussion of the Woods County Fair with Colleen Myers choosing her item. Amanda's items will be distributed since she is moving. A recap of the Spring Council meeting was given by several members. Grow and Share tied for a second time in attendance with eight members.

Members discussed the upcoming State OHCE meeting under new business. Members were encouraged to submit their registration. The group discussed the possibility of a canning workshop to be held in July. A decision will be made at the June meeting.

Janet reminded attendees of the pie-making workshop to be held in Major County in August. She also encouraged members to attend the various Lunch and Learns hosted by Susan Holliday. She mentioned that she had attended the jams and jellies workshop. The June lesson will be open.

Carol McDaniel presented the lesson on “What Shoe Are You?” Members filled out a personality test to determine if they were a Clown Shoe, All Business Shoe, Combat Shoe or House Shoe.
