Graveside services for Pauline Beckwith-Stands were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Memorial Hill Cemetery north of Waynoka with Scott Kysar officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Waynoka.

Pauline Adelle Fischer Beckwith-Stands was born on September 5, 1927, in Alva, Oklahoma. She passed away at Share Convalescent Home in Alva, Oklahoma, on Tuesday, June 28, 2023, at the remarkable age of 95 years.

Pauline was a 1945 graduate of Waynoka High School. Following high school, she attended Northwestern Oklahoma State College in Alva and also attended Oklahoma A & M in Stillwater, Oklahoma. She was united in marriage to Max Bixler on September 5, 1948. Together they had two daughters, Debra Denise and Beth Ellen.

Deeply rooted in her faith, Pauline was a devout Christian who cherished the daily reading and study of her Bible. She was a member of the Waynoka Church of Christ most currently and the Waynoka United Methodist Church in earlier years.

Pauline was an extraordinary homemaker and housekeeper. She went out of her way to make family and friends feel welcome in her home. She loved to cook and was a meticulous seamstress. Her yard was always flourishing with flowers, fruit trees, vegetables and even a few grapevines. She was a member of a three-table Bridge Club calle "Tres Mesa" that she loved very much! They met once a month and had the most wonderful time. She also had an artistic side. She enjoyed painting, crocheting, knitting and embroidery and signed her pieces of art with her nickname, 'Polly.' As you might assume, her handwriting was beautiful. She used that talent by sending cards to loved ones on a regular basis. Pauline was thrifty and resourceful, yet classy, hardworking, and business savvy. As a landowner, she was always busy with something, and she kept a close eye on the price of wheat, ready to sell on the high!

To her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was affectionately known as Nana. They could always rely on her for sweet treats, engaging games of Chinese checkers, abundant Avon samples, and a sandbur-free yard that provided the perfect backdrop for joyful slip and slide adventures.

Pauline married Jacob Stands in 1997. They maintained homes in Waynoka and Norman for 12 years, before moving home to Waynoka in 2010.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Gertrude Fischer; a brother, Paul Eugene Fischer; her daughter, Beth Ellen Downing; and a grandson, Michael Downing.

She is survived by her daughter, Debra Redgate and husband, Max, of Waynoka; three granddaughters, Dana Church and husband, Kyle, of Sentinel, Amy Vernon and husband, C.C., of York, Nebraska, and Chancey Hanson and husband, John, of Waynoka. She is also survived by six great grandchildren: Caden, Madison, Annsley, Cole, Addley and Charles; cousins, and a multitude of friends.
