Shelley L. Hintergardt Martin, daughter of Etta Margaret (O'Connell) and Edgar Lee Hintergardt, was born January 21, 1930, at Elkhart, Kansas. She passed away at Beadles Nursing Home in Alva, Oklahoma on July 7, 2023, at the age of 93 years old.

Shelley was the second child of nine children. They lived in Elkhart, Kansas; Cleo Springs, Oklahoma; Cortez, Colorado; returning to Alva.
