Readers of my column know I read lots of books. Reading is my favorite pastime. Whenever I write about books I’ve enjoyed, I receive encouraging comments so books will be my topic in this column.

But first I have a couple of other things I want to mention. We had an embarrassing lapse on delivery of the Alva Review-Courier for Friday, July 7. It was a combination error with an employee being late, which caused a change in the usual routine.
