Artificial turf bids come in high, tabled by Parks and Recreation Board

Alva Parks and Recreation Board members are looking at bids for adding artificial turf in the infields of all softball and baseball fields at the Recreation Complex. This is part of the softball pod of four fields located south of the fieldhouse.

Thursday afternoon, the Alva Parks and Recreation Board held a special meeting to look at bids received for artificial turf to be installed in the infields of baseball and softball fields at Alva Recreation Complex. Eight fields are included in the bid specifications. Kimley-Horn, the firm handling plans for the swimming pool, helped the board determine specifications for bidding.

Of the four bids received, only one came in under the $1.54 million available for the project. The project funds come from donations and money accumulated from a designated sales tax. Unfortunately, the low bid of $1...
