An Alva woman has been charged with a felony after officers tried to take her into custody on warrants.

Court records show on Aug. 21, around 5:35 p.m. Christina Ann Richardson was located at a rural Woods County residence. Richardson had two felony warrants out of Woodward County, and Woodward County advised they would place a hold on Richardson if located. She also had a misdemeanor warrant out of Dewey County, and they also said they’d place a hold on her.

Woods County Deputies Jones, Nesseralla and McCullough arrived at the residence where they met Rodney Welch. He said Richardson was within the residence.

Shortly after Richardson was made aware of the law enforcement presence, she fled through the back door into a pasture located to the west. Deputies pursued her as she ran west through the pasture. As Nesseralla closed in on her, Richardson ran south to get away. Jones and McCullough headed her off.

Richardson tripped and fell in the grass, which was two to three feet tall, and they could no longer see her. Deputies gave Richardson verbal commands while approaching her last known location, but she did not respond. They found her lying down in the tall grass.

Richardson was apprehended in the pasture approximately 200 yards from the residence. She was given multiple verbal commands to stand up and place her hands behind her back because she was under arrest. Richardson would not comply but yelled that deputies did not have any local warrants to arrest her on. When deputies were handcuffing her, Richardson became angered and continued to obstruct by pulling her arms away and resisting.

After being handcuffed, Richardson managed to slip a hand out of the cuffs. When Nesseralla attempted to place her hand back into the handcuff, Richardson resisted. Richardson dug her nails into Nesseralla, causing scratches and drawing blood.

Richardson was transported to the Woods County Jail. Due to her comments, behaviors and refusal to be booked in, Richardson was placed in the holding cell for observation.

On Aug. 22 in Woods County, Christina Ann Richardson, 34, of Alva, was charged with assault and battery on a police officer. This crime is punishable by a fine of up to $500 and/or imprisonment for up to five years or county jail not exceeding one year.
