Alva Ladybugs win 8-1 over Blackwell

ALVA – Coming off a 1-0 road loss to Perry, the Alva Ladybugs softball team hosted the Blackwell Maroons Thursday, winning 8-1.

Blackwell was first on the scoreboard when Adisyn Peetoom scored on a ground out in the top of the first inning.

Alva took the lead in the bottom of the first when an error scored one run, Dylen Marteney singled to score two runs and an error scored a run.

The Ladybugs continued to dominate, scoring on a Maroon error and on a ground out by Marteney in the second inning.

Jaycee Kelln earned the win for Alva, giving up three hits and one run (zero earned) over seven innings. She struck out seven and walked two. Marteney led the Ladybugs with four runs batted in. Kelln, Ruby Nichols and Trinity Stevens stole multiple bases with the team logging seven stolen bases in the game.

Peetoom took the loss for Blackwell. The Maroons went six innings surrendering eight runs (three earned) on two hits, striking out eight and walking four.

The win gave the Ladybugs a season record of 7-6 going into a Friday game at Enid.
