LARRY DEAN SNOW

August 30, 2023

Funeral services for Larry Snow will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at the Bible Baptist Church with Pastor John Clapp officiating. A private family interment will be in the Alva Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.

Larry Dean Snow, son of George and Olga (Melkus) Snow, was born March 17, 1936, at Farry, Oklahoma, at his grandparent's home one mile south of Farry. He passed away August 26, 2023, at Alva, at the age of 87 years, 5 months and 9 days.

Larry attended 12 years of school at Farry. He helped his dad with the janitor work at the school while growing up. He loved all sports and was probably the best third baseman in the country. On June 15, 1957, he married Margaret Schmitt at the farm home of Frank and Nettie Schmitt. They had two children, a son, Alan Dean, and a daughter, Sherre Rochelle.

He worked at Hillcrest Dairy in Alva, National Gypsum Company in Medicine Lodge, Kansas, and then was transferred to Wichita, Kansas, where he worked for 29 years. He worked for City Service Gas Company and later Williams Natural Gas Company. Larry retired in 1996 and moved back to Alva. His children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were the highlight of his life. Many don't know but he had a practical jokester side of him that kept his family entertained no matter where they were. He was a devoted worker in the Independent Bible Baptist Church and always saw people in need and helped them. Larry was an honorable man all his life. His main wish was for family and friends to be saved and be with him in Heaven.

Besides his parents, George and Olga, he was preceded in death by his brother, Terry Snow.

Larry is survived by his wife, Margaret; son, Alan Snow; daughter, Sherre McNett and husband, Jim, all of Alva; four grandchildren, Chad Snow, April Argo and husband, Tim, Kelly Snow and wife, Ashli, and Lacie Groves and husband, Aaron, all of Alva; six grandchildren, Carly, Chance, and Kendall Argo, Chloe and Case Snow, and Paisley Groves; two nieces, Jennifer Snow Hada and Jaymee Snow Medrano of Andrews, Texas; many other relatives and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Bible Baptist Church Missionaries.
