Cherokee FFA Pot of Gold Kickoff Party

August 30, 2023

Each year, Cherokee FFA members are randomly selected to serve as part of a Pot of Gold group. Each group is led by

a local FFA officer and generally has up to 10 members. As members attend various activities, points are tracked. If an

entire group attends any event, local to national level, the team receives bonus points.

Pot of Gold points are added up at the end of both the first and second school semesters. A semester-winning group

gets to choose a one-day outing, sponsored by the FFA, for their group. At the conclusion of the school year, both

semester points and the previous summer's points are totaled for each group. The overall winning group is announced

at the Cherokee FFA Banquet. The Pot of Gold winning group receives a three-day, all-expenses-paid trip to a place in

in Oklahoma of their choosing.

The Cherokee FFA officers hosted 45 local FFA members at the Cherokee Ag Farm for the Pot of Gold Kickoff Party

Thursday, Aug. 17. To kick off the year, members voted for the 23-24 chapter t-shirt design, ate snacks, mingled with

fellow members and were divided into Pot of Gold teams based on their sunglasses' frame color. The officers met for

a short time with their new Pot of Gold groups before having a fun, yet competitive, game of kickball.

Tessa Littlefield, Cherokee FFA second year member, stated, "I had a great time socializing and getting to know my

new pot of gold team and I am looking forward to this school year."

In perfect attendance this year at the kickoff party were Juan Castro's group and Gavin Guffy's group. They received

double points for 100% of their team members being present.

The Cherokee FFA membership for 2023-2024 is 55. Members are in the eighth through 12th grades and must be

enrolled in an agricultural education class.
