In February 1931 in Los Angeles, California, Marcia Marks gave birth to a baby boy. She and her husband, Alexander, named their child Jackie. Jackie Marks grew up in Los Angeles and graduated from North Hollywood High School in 1949.

Jackie’s parents were both born in the United States to Jewish immigrants from Eastern Europe. Information on their ancestors is sketchy – partially because their son told several different stories about them.
