The Alva Ladybugs were off to a good start in the Highway 81 Classic on Thursday with wins over Kingfisher (3-0) and Pioneer-Pleasant Vale (9-1).

The bottom of the lineup helped the Alva Ladybugs capture a 3-0 victory over Kingfisher Lady Jackets on Thursday. Asia Blackledge, Avery McMurphy and Rien Buehrer combined for four of the team's eight hits in the victory. They scored one run and drove in one. Both teams were strong in the circle: Jaycee Kelln struck out seven, while Kinley East from Kingfisher sat down three.
