There are no services planned at this time for Jane Akin Bergen of Waynoka, Oklahoma. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Waynoka.

Jane Ellen (Snyder) Akin Bergen, daughter of the late Leslie R. Snyder Jr. and Reta (Trammell) Snyder, was born March 10, 1939, on the homestead of her grandparents north of Waynoka, and passed away with her husband at her side on September 6, 2023, at her home in Waynoka at the age of 84 years.

Jane attended school in Waynoka and Belen, New Mexico, and completed school at 16. She attended Beauty College in Albuquerque, New Mexico, returning to Belen where mother and daughter went into partnership in a beauty shop for about 20 years.

Jane moved back to Waynoka in 1972 and in 1973 became employed with the Santa Fe Railroad. She was the last agent out of Waynoka before being transferred to Kansas City, Kansas. She retired out of Kansas City in 1994 and returned to her home in Waynoka. In June of 2009, Jane was married for the last time to Shelly Bergen and they traveled and antiqued with more love and happiness for each other than most have in a lifetime.

Besides her parents, Leslie and Reta, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Snyder; a sister, Tuana Snyder; a son, Danny Akin; and a daughter, Dian (Akin) McManis Fry.

Jane is survived by her husband, Shelly of Waynoka; daughter, Valeri Baggatt and husband, Bob, of Iowa; a son-in-law, Mike Fry of Woodward; a daughter-in-law, Sandy Akin of Woodward; grandsons, Robert McManis and wife, Tammy, of Edmond; Terry Hale and wife, Jessica, of Oklahoma City; five great grandchildren, Chase McManis, Colby Reese McManis, Mackenzie McManis, Connor McManis, and Amara Hale; other relatives and friends.
