Funeral services for Donald Allyn Jordan will 2 p.m. Thursday, September 28, 2023, at the Alva Church of God, with Pastor Bob Brown and Pastor Nathan Broderick officiating. Interment will follow in the Alva Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.

Donald Allyn Jordan blessed this earth on April 16, 1952. He was the strapping son of Charles Wayne and Mary Allyne Jordan. He ran to Jesus on September 24, 2023.

Don was our Big Kahuna. Big in his love, his generosity, his patience, his kindness; in fact he exhibited all of the Fruit of the Spirit. Some of his best memories stemmed from being raised in the Panhandle Eastern Natural Gas Pipeline camp in Hansford, Texas. He and his brother were famous for their adventures – walking across a septic tank on a board, riding bikes with neighborhood kids until Dad whistled, and exploring hills and caverns.

Don's love of sports is well known. He played basketball and baseball in high school. He scored many three pointers before they were even invented. His hitting prowess earned him a spot on the 1972 Texas All State baseball team.

In 1976, Don met Donna, his soulmate. They were happily married for 48 years. They had two children, Jen and Brad, and later welcomed Travis and Danielle. Certainly, the best family members came along when he became Grandpa to Carigan (Cari Bear), Shayleigh (Shay Shay), Delaney (Laney Bug) and Tanner (Tan Man).

Don was involved in coaching Jen and Brad's teams, even youth soccer and girls T-ball. He faithfully attended all the kids' events, basketball, cheerleading, band and vocal. Later in life, Don found great joy in playing golf with the noon group.

After retirement, Don and Donna took many road trips together. Their favorite trip was in the summer of 2019. They cruised the Alaskan coast as a whole family. Memories that will last a lifetime were made.

Don was preceded in death by his dad, Chuck, his mom, Allyne, his brother, Steve, his sister, Linda, his father-in-law, Shirley, and his mother-in-law, Bob. He is survived by his wife Donna, his daughter Jennifer (Travis Wyatt), son Brad (Danielle), and grandchildren Carigan, Shayleigh, Delaney, Tanner, sister-in-law, Sheri, brother-in-law, Scott (Donae Smith), as well as many loved nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Alzheimer's Association or the Alva Church of God.
