New Burlington counselor, Christa Fraire, settles into her new office and position.

Christa Fraire is the new counselor at Burlington Schools.

Mrs. Fraire was born in Cherokee. She attended elementary school in Burlington. Her father also graduated from Burlington. After elementary school her dad was offered a job in Muskogee where she eventually graduated from Hillsdale High School. Her school counselor inspired her by helping her senior class find a perfect fit for themselves in the college world.

Mrs. Fraire came to Burlington from Alva, where she was a pre-K teacher. She stated that the change is very different, but she is loving it. The biggest challenge for her being a counselor versus a teacher is that every single day is different. When she was teaching, she was on a firm schedule and had the same expectations from every student. Now every single day is different and she is dealing with different needs of all ages and from every class.

Mrs. Fraire has been teaching for 20 years and is happy to be able to start a new journey in Burlington.
