Rangers soccer team ties conference leader Ouachita Baptist

ALVA – Northwestern Oklahoma State hosted Ouachita Baptist on Wednesday afternoon. The Rangers played the Tigers to a 0-0 draw for the seventh tie of the season. Rachel Brown completed her first shutout of the season while the team earned their third shutout.

Rachel Brown finished with six saves in the afternoon. Isabella Mcmillan had a game high of five shots on goal. Northwestern led in shots with a final total of 18-13, while having 10-6 on goal.

The Rangers in the opening half were able to force Ouachita into a couple of tough situations Callie Haneborg and Mcmillan put two shots on goal forcing Michele Snow into a couple of saves early in the game. At the 15:54 mark the Rangers had a scoring opportunity beating the Tiger defense as Jazlyn Norwood's shot hit the top crossbar as the game remained 0-0.

Northwestern kept the pressure on the Tigers as a shot by Mcmillan was saved, setting up a corner kick before Snow was able to make her second save in two minutes. The game remained tied into the halftime break.


In the second half the Tigers had a couple of their best looks with two corner kicks and a shot but Rachel Brown was able to make the save. Victoria Ruvalcaba had a shot at the 55:10 mark that was saved by Snow.

In the final 10 minutes of the match Ouachita Baptist had the final two shots of the game but Rachel Brown was able to make both saves to keep the game scoreless.

Northwestern will next be home on Wednesday, Oct. 25, against East Central University.
