Our mother, Dortha Ann Dunkin, passed away on November 13, 2023, in Panama City Beach, Florida. She was 97.
Our mom was a quiet, determined and independent person who fought for everything she accomplished in life. She made difficult decisions and, as a single mother, she made a good life for her daughters. At the same time, she built a career for herself as an educator. On her last birthday, her granddaughter, Chandra, whom she dearly loved, asked her what she wished for when she blew out her candles. She replied with a smile, "I hope this is my last one."
