Alva Airport Commission to discuss new jet fuel storage

December 10, 2023

The Alva Airport Commission will look at amending an owner-engineer agreement with Parkhill for the design of an above ground jet fuel storage tank when they meet on Monday. The regular meeting is set for 7 p.m. in the airport terminal.

Commission members will look at financial reports from October and November and hear a report from Alva City Council.

Airport Manager Derrick Courson will provide an accounts receivable report showing what is owed to the airport in hangar leases and rentals as well as charged fuel purchases. He will also report on fuel sales for November.

The above ground jet fuel storage and self-serve dispenser system to be constructed at the airport will require an amendment to the airport’s agreement with Parkhill, their engineering firm, for additional services. These services will include a topographic survey. The site for the fuel storage is south of the terminal building abutting the concrete pad area that was designed for jets.

The commission will also discuss and act on authorizing the city business manager to invest $800,000 from the pooled investment account into a traditional CD for a term of six months. Four local banks provided bids so interest rates can be compared.
