December 17, 2023

Mason Orcutt, currently a junior at Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics (OSSM), is part of the academic team that qualified for the Small School National Championship Tournament to be held in April in Chicago, Illinois. Orcutt attended Alva High School prior to becoming a student at OSSM.

“I am incredibly proud of the success our Academic Quiz Bowl Team continues to have,” said Dr. Michelle McCargish, history professor at OSSM and faculty advisor. “This is our third year with an OSSM team and our third time qualifying for the national tournament, where they will compete against other high-caliber teams and meet peers from all over the world. Our students are achieving success at this level of competition, despite heavy course loads and limited free time. This is a testament to their abilities, dedication to self-study, and the curriculum at OSSM that prepares them to achieve remarkable things.”

Mason is the son of Ben Orcutt and Marissa Orcutt.
