Ladybugs win at home against Fairview

The Alva Ladybugs provided the home crowd with a decisive 70-42 win over the Fairview Lady Yellowjackets Thursday night.

The score was tied at 14 all at the end of the first quarter, but the Alva girls added 17 points in the second while Fairview had seven. That gave the Ladybugs a 31-21 lead at halftime. The Ladybugs continued to outscore Fairview with 19 points in the third quarter compared to 11 for their opponents. At the end of three quarters, Alva led 50-32. In the final period, the Ladybugs doubled the points posted by the Lady Jackets 20 to 10 leading to the 70-42 Alva victory.

Junior Lakin Gaddy led the Ladybugs in scoring with 24 points followed by Carly Argo and Jaycee Kelln with 11 each. Sophomore Hadlee Ohm was close behind with ten points. Rounding out the score were Morgan Heath with six, Asia Blackledge with five, Kambri Rhodes with two and Mya Williams one.

The top scorers for Fairview were Bentlee Bernard and Karsyn Pendergraft with nine each. Harlee Hamar had seven while Addison Schmidt had five and Macy Nightengale four. Mallory Reames and Jaycee Young had three points each while Baylee Petty had two.

The Ladybugs traveled to Perry on Friday to finish out their schedule before the holiday break.
