Harry Thomas Reid, better known as Tom, was born December 22, 1944, in Alva, Oklahoma, to parents Harry Thomas Reid and Alice Pauline (Kepford) Reid.

Family visitation services will be Friday, March 8, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Wharton Funeral Chapel.

Funeral services will be Saturday, March 9, at 10:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Alva with Father Bala Sagili Jesubas officiating. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Wharton Funeral Chapel of Alva is in charge of arrangements.

Tom is survived by his wife, Angela Reid, of 55 years; his sister Pat of Enid, Oklahoma; his eldest son, R.T. Reid and his wife Michelle of Dodge City, Kansas, and grandchildren Ryan and his wife Holly, Thane and Bex and great-grandchildren Claire and Emma; his second son Eric J. Reid of Olathe, Kansas, and grandchildren Quinn and Callum; his only daughter Shannon Reid and her husband Todd of Wylie, Texas, and grandchildren Madeleine, Tom, Ivy, and Theo.

He graduated from Alva Senior High School, attended NWOSU and OSU, graduating with bachelor's and master's degrees in education and social studies. He joined the Air Force during the Vietnam War, and was assigned to intelligence where he decoded Soviet encryption from a base in southern Italy. In 1968, he married Angela Isenbart at Sacred Heart Church in Alva. After three months in Europe, they returned to Annapolis, Maryland, where he worked alongside civilians at the NSA. He completed his military service, having attained the rank of E-5 Staff Sergeant and master marksman.

Tom and Angie moved to Dodge City, Kansas, where they were public school educators and raised a family from 1970 to 2002. They also lived and worked in Alva for several years in the 1980s, in farming and education, and retired to the Reid family home in 2002.
