Graveside services for Roma Scott, 88, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2024, at the Alva Municipal Cemetery with Steve Hamm of College Hill Church of Christ officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home, Alva.

Roma Delores, daughter of the late Joseph Earl and Mattie Ivera (Seay) Meeks, was born April 13, 1935, at Frederick, Oklahoma, and passed away March 17, 2024, at the Ayers Nursing Home in Snyder, Oklahoma.

Roma attended Weaver Public Schools and excelled at everything she tried. Her father ran a small dairy and she helped him a lot when she was growing up. Roma married Bart Levi Scott or better known as B.L. Scott on December 9, 1951, at Chattanooga, Oklahoma. They celebrated 62 years of marriage prior to B.L.'s death in 2013. They made their home in Fort Worth, Texas, and Frederick, Oklahoma, before moving to Alva in 1970. Over the years, Roma worked at a supermarket and a bank, before going to work for OG&E. in Alva. She retired from OG&E after 21 years and 6 months of service where she did whatever it took to keep the guys on the job and the customers happy.

Roma was a 44-year breast cancer survivor. Roma and B.L. loved children and enjoyed babysitting for many little ones during their life together. Roma was a faithful member of the College Hill Church of Christ. After her retirement, she and B.L. had a lawn mowing service for many years. She loved being outdoors where she could work in her many flowerbeds, making sure her yard was beautiful.

Besides her parents, Roma was preceded in death by her husband, B.L. Scott; an infant son in 1954, an infant son in 1955, and an infant daughter in May of 1957; five sisters, Helen Ruth Mclaughlin, Betty Hunt, Cleta McIntyre, Shirley Chisum, and Linda Prater; two brothers, James Earl Meeks and Darrel Wayne Meeks; two stepsisters, Edna Mae Dewberry and Miriam Nolan; three stepbrothers, Monroe Meeks, Lester Meeks, and Chester Meeks.

Roma is survived by her siblings, Virginia Allen, Roberta Perry, Rebecca Dugan, Jimmie Meeks, and Danny Meeks; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the College Hill Church of Christ Bible Chair.
