  • Spiritually Speaking

    W. Jay Tyree, College Hill Church of Christ|Apr 5, 2019

Part of this morning’s lecture in Ethics rotated around the teachings of Confucius, the 6th century BC scholar who wanted to bring China up from the brink of ruin. While we were discussing Confucius’ ideas on “the morally superior person” we came across the word “virtue” (and by discussing I mean that I was rambling on and asking questions that remained unanswered as the class tried to collectively will the clock to tick faster). However, I decided to go for broke and ask what I thought was a simple question: “What does Confucius mean by “virt...

  • Helmets

    Arden Chaffee|Apr 5, 2019

You know from football injuries that concussion often can’t be prevented even with a helmet. The KTH Royal Research Institute in Stockholm claims that the blame for at least two-thirds of head injuries, whether football players, cyclists, skiers, or equestrians who hit their heads, do so at an angle. This is referred to as “rotational motion trauma,” similar to a Mike Tyson uppercut to the jaw. Extensive research begun in the 1990s has led to the Multi-directionaI lmpact Protection System or MI...

The western tip of that state tapers almost into a point; it is much narrower than eastern Kentucky. Go a few miles south and one is...
