    Saturday, Oct. 29, students from the Alva band went to Tecumseh to try out for Small School All-State Honor Band, where they competed against other students from all over the state.     On Friday, Oct. 28, the Alva Goldbugs faced off against the Tonkawa Buccaneers as they made their last attempt of getting a Week 11. The Goldbugs struggled all through the first half with offense as Tonkawa's defense held the line. On the first possession Alva was forced to punt the ball to their opponents.     On Oct. 22, the state cross country competition was held in Tulsa. Four athletes from Alva competed. Senior Noah Place represented the boys, and junior RayRay Bell, sophomore Priscilla Samaniego, and freshman Mia Walker represented the girls.     On Monday, Oct. 24, several students from Alva high and middle schools went to Elk City to perform in the Western Honor Choir concert. Western Honor Choir (WOCDA) is an audition-only elite choir filled with students from across the western part of the state.
