More than half of closures since 2010 were in the South, where most states have chosen not to expand Medicaid, as allowed for under the Affordable Care Act. One such hospital was Cumberland River Hospital in the Middle Tennessee town of Celina, population 1,463, where Natalie Boone serves as director of Clay County Emergency Medical Services. • Times may change, but the need to support a free press has not

    Kathy Kiely|Oct 6, 2019

Once upon a time, having a job at a newspaper meant working in one of the most imposing buildings in town, inhaling the acrid aroma of fresh ink and the dusty breath of cheap newsprint and feeling mini-earthquakes under our feet every time the presses started to roll. For those of us old enough to remember those days, National Newspaper Week 2019 could be one big, fat elegiac nostalgia trip. Today, many newspapers are ditching the imposing buildings for low-rent storefronts and have outsourced...

  • Well, it worked

    Jim Scribner|Oct 6, 2019

Joy Haltom did a good job masterminding the meeting. This Saturday was my brother Jack's birthday. He is always easy to re...
