Alva Arena Authority hears Duncan presenter

“Do it right the first time so you don’t have to do it over and over,” Joe Henderson told members of the Alva Arena Authority.

Henderson, of Duncan, shared his experiences with the Stevens County Fairgrounds, which evolved from a small, under-used facility to a premier arena hosting 40 major events annually.

Henderson, born and raised in Stevens County, said he grew up in the 4-H and FFA programs.

“We went from having a big metal barn to show in (with) no seating, no fixed judging area, where we put up wire panels for stalls ... to a fixed show building with inside arena with bleacher seating...
