Two charged with child abuse in paddling

Two people have been charged with felony child abuse following an investigation by the Alfalfa County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation began on March 25 when Burlington Schools reported to DHS the possible child abuse of an 8-year-old girl who said she had been spanked at home and it hurt to sit down.

Court records show Deputy Caleb Roberts and a DHS case worker went to Driftwood (an unincorporated town) to make contact with the parent. They spoke to Jeremiah Miller who lives at the residence with the girl’s mother Crystal Covalt. Miller’s three juvenile daughters also live there.
