Salutatorian Jesse Ortiz welcomed the guests and thanked them for being in attendance and the families for supporting their graduates. He said, "Your presence means a lot to these guys."
He also praised all the teachers on staff at Bill Johnson Correctional Center (BJCC) and mentioned how hard they work at getting the students prepared to take the GED exam. He especially cited his teacher, Mrs. Oakes, in encouraging him to believe in himself.
